Northern Asia
In Caesarea Philippi, Jesus made one of the most remarkable statements in
Scripture. Accompanied by the most unlikely candidates for leadership of a worldwide organization,
Jesus stated, "I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18 ). He was speaking of a global body of
believers that would stretch from Jerusalem to the farthest regions of the world. Jesus is building
His church - and it continues to grow throughout the world. But how is He building His church?
First, Jesus builds His church in places. Places are important in His plan. Places
are where He meets people. Jesus is meeting people and building His church in Northern Asia. The
Spirit of God is moving across the land - across great cities and rural villages, coastal plains,
towering mountains, deserts and tropical rain forests, skyscrapers and tiny mud-and-thatch dwellings.
No part of the continent of Asia has been untouched. Jesus builds His church - it is growing from
the planting of His cross in the soil of Northern Asia .
Second, Jesus builds His church with people. Hearts and souls, not brick and mortar,
are the building blocks of Christ's church. In recent decades, the church has grown faster in Northern
Asia than in any other part of the world. In a region of the world populated by hundreds of millions,
more than 100 million people are serving Christ. With the Word of God firmly planted in their hearts,
young peasant preachers and mature city pastors declare the grace of God in Northern Asia. Hungry
hearts have turned toward Christ and made the journey that takes one from darkness to light, from
earth to glory. Jesus builds His church with people.
Finally, Jesus builds His church through partnership. He has called on us to partner
with this great and growing group of believers in Northern Asia to encourage and empower them as they
fulfill His mandate to declare the gospel and disciple the nations. Great Commission partners - men
and women who will commit a lifetime to a life-changing message - are needed to walk alongside Jesus'
church in Northern Asia.
Many opportunities for partnership exist in Northern Asia. One of these opportunities
is to serve on a campus teaching English. Asians have a great desire to learn English. Teaching on a
campus in Northern Asia provides the opportunity to build relationships with students and share eternal
values. Other opportunities to serve involve ministries of compassion. In Northern Asia workers are
heavily involved with orphanages, clinics, schools, Teen Challenge and other ministries that provide
occasions to both demonstrate and declare the love of Christ.
We encourage you to considering giving a summer, a year or a lifetime of service in
Northern Asia.
