spotlight on: AMERICA
by Ruby Thompson
As you turn on the morning news, what comes to mind? "We really need to pray
for... [insert any volatile country here]." But how many times do you watch the local or national
news and think, "We really need to pray for America."? It is often said that we, as Christians,
have more faith to see lost people saved overseas than we do our own family members. The same trap
can occur when we look at our nation.
As a disciple of Jesus Christ, every person is called to "have a walk worthy of
the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work" (Colossians 1:10). America is no
exception.
Pray that a student volunteer movement of young people will arise with a passion to take
the gospel to unreached people groups.
Pray for believers in North America to pursue a personal relationship with Jesus that
supernaturally transforms them into "burning, shining lamps" everywhere they go (working, playing,
exercising, etc).
Pray that every Christian will honor the Lord in tithing and missions giving from a grateful
heart to Jesus for His provision.
Pray that missionaries to North America will have victory over the strongholds of
materialism and entertainment that grip the culture and will preach the gospel with authority and
anointing from the Holy Spirit.
