Prayer for Europe

By Greg Mundis - Europe AGWM Regional Director

Dear Lord,

We pray with the Apostle Paul “that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored” throughout the countries of Europe (2 Thessalonians. 3:1, NIV). We agree together, and with your Holy Spirit, that we see the spread of the gospel accelerate across the continent. We pray, too, that our people sent to Europe will model the integrity of such New Testament missionaries as Paul.

Father, we are burdened for the cities of Europe. We know that to reach the entire continent with the gospel of Jesus Christ, we must plant churches in the cities, where a vast majority of Europeans live. God, we pray for the new church planting efforts of our missionaries partnering with the national churches in Scotland, England, Spain, Germany, Romania, Poland…. Please grant our brothers and sisters favor in these pioneering endeavors.

Lord, we also intercede for the campuses—universities filled with millions of students. Thank you for showing your heart for these students by sending 30 missionaries who are focused on reaching the campuses— but, Lord, please send us more. We pray specifically for the outreaches in Norway, Poland, Belgium and Italy, as the Holy Spirit is emphasizing these campus ministries to my heart.

Dear Father, our hearts go out to the children of Europe, many who are marginalized and seemingly hidden from caring eyes and hearts. Lord, help us to see them and reach them with your love. Please open doors in public schools. Thank you for the open door in Malta where the government has granted permission to present The Puzzle, a drama showing how Jesus can be their friend. Please help us to effectively communicate your desire to befriend and care for the children of Europe through relationships.

Lord, we are concerned about the culturally diverse communities of Europe. We see the demographics rapidly changing… immigrants arriving en masse while Europeans have a zero population growth rate. Please give us wisdom as we focus on reaching these culturally diverse communities, especially the ghettos of people from the Middle East, Africa, the Far East, and Latin America. Oh, God, how they need to hear Your gospel.

We do thank you, Father, for the great blessing that U.S. Chi Alpha has given to Europe in terms of missionaries and teams, doing student ministries and church planting.

Lord, we pray that you will send many more willing workers to Europe.
